Product Description

Premium Betta Test for vibrant, healthy fish: ideal for aquarists seeking top-quality specimens with stunning colors and finnage.

  • Water Conditions: Betta Test thrives in warm, stable water with a temperature range of 76-82°F (24-28°C). Maintain a pH between 6.5 and 7.5, with soft to moderately hard water (dGH 5-20). Use a reliable heater and thermometer to avoid fluctuations. Perform weekly 25-30% water changes with dechlorinated water to keep ammonia and nitrite at zero, and nitrates below 20 ppm. A gentle sponge filter is ideal to prevent strong currents, as Bettas prefer calm waters. Add Indian almond leaves or driftwood to mimic their natural blackwater habitat, which reduces stress and promotes fin health.
  • Suitable Tank Mates: Bettas are territorial, so choose peaceful, non-fin-nipping tank mates. Good companions include small, schooling fish like neon tetras, ember tetras, or harlequin rasboras. Bottom dwellers such as Corydoras catfish, Kuhli loaches, or dwarf shrimp (like cherry shrimp) can coexist if the tank is spacious (10+ gallons) and heavily planted. Avoid aggressive fish, fin nippers (e.g., tiger barbs), or other long-finned species like guppies. Never house two male Bettas together; females can be kept in sororities with caution. Always quarantine new additions and provide plenty of hiding spots with plants or decor to reduce conflict.
  • Feeding Habits: Betta Test is a carnivore requiring a protein-rich diet. Offer high-quality Betta pellets or flakes as a staple, ensuring they sink slowly (Bettas are surface feeders). Supplement with frozen or live foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, or mosquito larvae to enhance color and vitality. Feed 2-3 small meals daily, only what they can consume in 2-3 minutes to prevent overfeeding and water fouling. Avoid over-reliance on freeze-dried foods, which can cause bloating. Fast your Betta one day per week to aid digestion. For variety, include vitamin-enriched foods to boost immunity.
  • Care Requirements: Provide a tank of at least 5 gallons (19 liters) for a single Betta; larger tanks (10+ gallons) reduce stress and allow better water stability. Use a lid, as Bettas may jump. Decorate with silk or live plants (e.g., Java fern, Anubias, or Amazon sword) and smooth decorations to prevent fin tears. Regularly inspect for common issues like fin rot (caused by poor water quality), ich (white spots from stress), or velvet (gold dust on skin). Quarantine new fish and treat with appropriate medications if needed. Handle Betta Test gently during water changes using a cup, never a net. Maintain a consistent light cycle (8-10 hours) to prevent algae and encourage plant growth. Observe daily for signs of lethargy, clamped fins, or loss of appetite, which indicate health problems. With proper care, this Betta can live 2-5 years, displaying its full beauty and personality.
