Description
Appears endemic to northern Myanmar and possibly to the state of Kachin, close to the city of Myitkyina. A pair of males from separate localities were included in the type series of D. hysginon with details given as ‘stream about 1.5 km on road Myitzon-Myitkyina’ and ‘ditch marginal to fish ponds about 40km N Myitkyina, on road to Myitzon’
Dario species from Myanmar, such as Dario dario or Dario hysginon, require a tank of at least 10 gallons. Maintain the water temperature between 72-82°F (22-28°C) with a pH level of 6.0-7.5. Provide them with a well-planted tank and subdued lighting. They are carnivorous, so feed them small live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp or small insects. Keep them in small groups and provide hiding spots. Regular water changes and monitoring of water parameters are important for their well-being.
