Tank mates: Other peaceful, similarly sized, intertidal species to avoid aggression and competition for resources. However, due to their territorial nature and tendency to prey on smaller animals, it's generally safer to house H. nudus with other Hemigrapsus species, like the bay shore crab (H. oregonensis), or other small, peaceful invertebrates like some hermit or porcelain crabs that are large enough to not be seen as food. Fish are not recommended as tank mates because H. nudus may prey on smaller fish and shrimp.
