Water condition: Freshwater, PH 6.0 - 7.5

Tank mates: aggressive and predatory in nature, so a species-specific tank is the safest. In a community tank, need to choose other large, robust, and non-aggressive fish of comparable adult size, such as large African cichlids, large catfish or like Polypterus (reedfish), or large plecos, but success is not even guaranteed. Any fish smaller than two-thirds of the Channa obscura's body size will likely be viewed as food.
