Tank mates: Other peaceful community fish like tetras, rasboras, and peaceful cichlids, provided they are too large for the catfish to eat. However, avoid very small fish that can fit into the catfish's mouth and ensure tank mates are at least 2 inches or larger to prevent being eaten. Due to their schooling nature, keep them in groups of three or more with plenty of open swimming space in a large aquarium.
