Malawi Sand Diver Cichlid (Fossorochromis Rostratus)

Fossorochromis rostratus is a majestic haplochromine cichlid from Lake Malawi, admired for its size, grace, and metallic beauty. Known as the Malawi Sand Diver, this species spends much of its time gliding elegantly over sandy substrates, sifting through the sand for small invertebrates and food particles.

Adult males are truly spectacular — displaying shimmering silver bodies with metallic blue highlights and subtle black markings along the flanks. Despite their impressive size, Rostratus are relatively peaceful for haps, making them excellent companions for other large, calm Malawi species.
