Tank mates: the baby (like the one presented) is somewhat peaceful. But for the juvenile to adult and full-grown it is highly recommended to keep alone or in a species-only tank, as they are highly aggressive, territorial, and predatory, meaning they will likely injure or kill other fish. If you must attempt tank mates, choose only extremely robust, equally large, and fast species, such as giant gouramis, very large armored catfish like Megalodoras, or full-grown Polypterus (bichirs), but be prepared for significant risks and have a backup tank ready. Avoid other knifefish or electric fish, as they will not tolerate them.
