Black molly fish, also known as Poecilia sphenops, are a popular species of freshwater fish that are typically black in color. They are known for their hardy nature and adaptability to different aquarium environments, making them a common choice for beginner fish keepers. Black mollies are also livebearers, which means that they give birth to live young rather than laying eggs. They are omnivorous and will eat a variety of foods, including algae, small insects, and commercial fish flakes. Black mollies are a social species and are best kept in groups of at least three or more. They can grow up to 4 inches in length and require a tank that is at least 10 gallons in size with a good filtration system.
