Description
Neolamprologus multifasciatus, commonly called the Multis or Shell Dweller, is the smallest and one of the most captivating cichlids from Lake Tanganyika. Known for its slender body, delicate stripes, and engaging social behavior, this species is a favorite among aquarists who enjoy observing intricate interactions in a well-structured tank.
Multifasciatus is highly social and forms complex colonies in the wild, with individuals occupying empty snail shells for breeding and protection. Males defend territories around their shells, while females care for the fry inside. Despite their small size, these fish are active, curious, and display fascinating hierarchical behavior within colonies.
