Tank mates: Similarly aggressive or larger fish, such as larger West African cichlids or robust tetras and barbs. Avoid aggressive species, larger cichlids that could become prey, or much smaller fish that might be targeted. Because of its territorial and aggressive nature, especially when breeding, it's often best to keep this with similarly dispositioned fish or to use a tank divider.
