Nicaraguan Cichlid (Hypsophrys Nicaraguensis)

Hypsophrys nicaraguensis, commonly known as the Moga Cichlid or Nicaraguan Cichlid, is a striking freshwater species native to Central America. It is admired for its elongated body, vibrant coloration, and active, interactive behavior. Males typically display bright golden-yellow and orange hues with distinctive blue or green highlights on the fins, while females are slightly more subdued but equally elegant.

Nicaraguensis is a moderately aggressive cichlid that forms strong pair bonds. It is territorial during breeding but otherwise coexists well with similar-sized, non-aggressive species. Its intelligent and interactive nature makes it engaging to observe in home aquariums.
