Red Lipstick Goby (Sicyopterus Rubicundus)

Sicyopterus rubicundus is a striking freshwater goby admired for its warm reddish and orange tones, especially visible on mature males. These rich colors give the fish a bold yet elegant appearance that stands out beautifully in natural and river-style aquariums.

This species is generally peaceful and active, making it suitable for community tanks with non-aggressive tank mates. Sicyopterus rubicundus spends most of its time near rocks and the bottom, where it grazes on algae and biofilm and moves actively against the water flow.

It prefers clean, well-oxygenated water with moderate to strong current, similar to fast-flowing streams in its natural habitat. With proper care and stable conditions, Sicyopterus rubicundus adds vibrant color, natural movement, and a strong river character to freshwater aquariums.
