The Silvertip Tetra (Hasemania nana), also known as the Silver Tetra or White Tip Tetra, is a small and peaceful freshwater fish belonging to the Characidae family. It is native to the Amazon River basin in South America, particularly Brazil and Peru. 

The Silvertip Tetra has a slender, elongated body with a streamlined shape. It gets its name from the silver-colored body with a distinct black line running horizontally along its midsection. Additionally, it features a striking white tip on its dorsal fin, which adds to its visual appeal. The fins of the Silvertip Tetra are transparent and complement the overall coloration of the fish.

In terms of size, Silvertip Tetras typically reach a length of about 2 inches (5 centimeters), making them suitable for smaller aquarium setups. They prefer living in schools, so it's recommended to keep them in groups of at least six individuals. The presence of a school provides them with a sense of security and reduces stress.

Silvertip Tetras are generally hardy and adaptable, making them suitable for beginner fishkeepers. They are compatible with a wide range of community fish, as long as their tankmates are not aggressive or too large to see the Silvertip Tetra as potential prey.
